Welcome to our DIY tutorial on making adorable dragonfly craft using popsicle sticks and beads!
This project is perfect for a fun afternoon activity with kids or as a creative way to add some handmade charm to your home decor. Not only is it easy and budget-friendly, but it also allows for endless customization with different colors and bead patterns.
So, let's spread our creative wings and dive into making these whimsical popsicle stick dragonflies!
Materials Needed:
- Popsicle sticks
- Assorted beads
- Craft glue
- Paint or markers
- Paintbrush
- Pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- Pom Poms
- Scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Start by gathering your popsicle sticks. You'll need one stick per dragonfly.
If you want to add some color, you can paint the sticks or leave them natural for a rustic look. Let the paint dry completely before moving on to the next step.
And gather beads.
We need a colorful pipe cleaner also.
Now it's time to get creative with your beads! Choose beads in a suitable color to represent the body of the dragonfly.
Apply a generous amount of glue using a hot glue gun along the length of the popsicle stick body and start arranging the beads.
Attach the beads one by one. Here I used dark and light blue shades of beads to make the dragonfly more adorable and colorful.
Add a large bead at the end of the popsicle stick as the head of the dragonfly.
Use googly eyes for the eyes of the dragonfly.
Attach the googly eyes using hot glue.
Take the pipe cleaner and bend it into a bow shape and glue it to the top of the popsicle stick as wings.
Attach the wings to the body of the dragonfly.
Once you've finished decorating your dragonfly, set it aside to dry completely. This may take a few hours depending on the type of glue you're using, so be patient!
Time Needed:
Depending on your crafting skills, it will take 10-20 minutes to make this popsicle stick dragonfly.
Once your dragonflies are fully dry, it's time to put them on display! You can attach them to a piece of string and hang them from the ceiling for a whimsical mobile, or simply place them on a shelf.
